Nevertheirregardless (thanks David Sedaris, for that word), let's all give this darling Scotsman Kevin McKidd a good look, shall we?

I first saw Kevin in the epic ROME series back in 2005-2007, and in Hannibal Rising the same year. He was fantastic in ROME as "Lucius". Then Patrick's a-hole ex-partner (whom I LOATHE) was a producer on the TV series, Journeyman, which was canceled after just one season. Patrick met Kevin on several occasions and said that he was a warm and delightful man. I think he has very kind eyes, don't you? Cutie McHotScot.

Patrick had and unintentionally hilarious walk-on during an episode of Journeyman when they were filming in Headquarters San Francisco. There was no way you could miss Patrick doing his best Julian Kaye-walk (Richard Gere in American Gigolo) with his queer dog, Sam. I nearly peed when I saw him in his scene. If you haven't seen American Gigolo, Gere walks very slowly and kind of tipped backwards in a very snooty manner.

Could I be a little more ADD this morning? I go from Kevin McKidd to Patrick to Richard Gere.

Recommended Movie of the Weekend - "From Dusk Til Dawn". HELL, yeah.

I've made mention of this Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino classic before. George Clooney was still Dr. Ross on E-Freakin'-R back in 1996 when this was released. I loved his little nervous tics, I loved Juliette Lewis and her white trash accent...but Salma. Oh, Salma Hayek and her snake dance. HO.LEE.SHIT. She was utter perfection...pouring that whiskey down her leg for "Richie" (Quentin) to drink it from her toes? Come ON, people. Does it get any sexier than that? No. It doesn't.

Oh yeah--there are vampires. LOTS of vampires.

Watch it. Love it. Tell me how you feel about it.

Recommended Movie of the Weekend - "American Psycho"

Now listen. Before y'all get all freaked out and judgey on my ass, hear me out. This movie is a dark satire about the smarmy excess in the 80's. Oh, and there's a serial killer named Patrick Bateman, played by Christian Bale, just for fun.

Patrick is a narcissistic (and self-loathing) Wall Street investment banker, who is highly competitive in all aspects of his life. He needs the right couture Valentino suit (just don't TOUCH it!), reservations on a Friday night at Dorsia and of course (and hilariously) the perfect business cards.

This movie is not for everyone. One thing I really like about this film is that it was directed by female director,  Mary Harron. Harron's in on the "joke" regarding how misogynistic and unhinged Patrick Bateman is, but she runs with it. (The book was written by Bret Easton Ellis back in the 80's and I was completely disgusted by his writing...so cross that off your Book Club list.)

I found this "mash-up" of American Psycho and The Dark Knight. Genius.

Recommended Movie of the Weekend - "The Hunger", with David Bowie

I was 22 when "The Hunger" was released. All I remember was the fuss everyone made over the love scene between Susan Sarandon and the luminous Catherine Deneuve. (My God, she's beautiful.) I never saw the film in the theatre; I wish that I had.

It's much more. David Bowie's performance is completely heartbreaking, and altogether too short. It's also a cool way to remember what we thought was sexy in the 80's--chiffon curtains blowing from an unknown wind, scenes seemingly shot through mini-blinds (a la` American Gigolo). 

Okay, maybe I'm the only one who has enjoyed taking the stroll down memory lane by watching The Hunger. The final scene with Catherine Deneuve is sort of lame, but just sit back and feel the darkness of the 80's.

Recommended Weekend Movie

Ohman. Who doesn't love Tommy Boy?? It's like warm blanket of funny. Comforting and still laugh out loud goodness.

I have so many favorite scenes and favorite lines:

"Its a clip-on!"..."Are ya SURE?"

"I can actually hear you getting fatter." and of course,

"Fat guy in a little coat...."

Recommended Movie of the Weekend (Totally Late) - "Silence of the Lambs"

GAAAH! I'm sorry this is late, ya'll! I'll fill ya in later...but here's your movie of the weekend--or WEEK--it's that much of a Classic.

I have been acting this out while we're watching it...I'm playing the parts of both Clarice and Hannibal.

I don't care what anyone says...Clarice and Hannibal were in love. I wish the film "Hannibal" had been made true to the book. If you haven't read it, I recommend doing so. It's one of my favorites because of the beautiful way Thomas Harris described the wondrous city of Florence.

Anyway. Again...favorite quotes? (Besides "...it puts the lotion in the basket." We all use that one!
